Every now and again I poke around on Atheist forums, fan pages, etc.  I find much of what they say over and over again to be redundant, nonsensical, and based on wishing and hoping they are right (although they would never admit this).  They are a very prideful group of folk that seek a pat on the back for their “scientific” understanding of things.  And while many of them may possibly confound the average Christian with their big words and scientific knowledge, we know that they are missing the really BIG picture.  They don’t understand our faith at all, although many THINK they do.  Which is why I’m writing this; to expose and refute some of the “MYTHS” that atheists believe about Christianity.

First, let me say that science is and always has been based on things of the Bible.  The Bible of Christianity gave us clues to things of the universe in which science hadn’t even discovered until AFTER the writings of the bible.  For example  Christopher Columbus wanted to prove the earth was round in the late 1400’s  when in fact it was in 240 B.C. that Eratosthenes of Cyrene (an ancient Greek astronomer) concluded the earth was round through experiments he did with the sun and shadows that were created by it.    However, we see in the book of Isaiah this knowledge was given Isaiah 400-500 years prior to even Eratosthenes as we can see in the following verse:

Isaiah 40:22

It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.

The word circle here is translated from the Hebrew word “chuwg ” – which means circle or sphere.  This writing didn’t come from an astronomer or even a scientist, but a follower of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.  Isaiah was a prophet of the Land of ancient Israel, foretelling many prophecies about the land that later became true in 100% detail.

Another example is looking at the stars.  In 1608 AD, Galileo announced that stars are innumerable after his observations with a telescope.  It was in fact that the Bible made this claim in the New Testament book of Hebrews, which is believed to have been written prior to 70 A.D., over 1500 years before Galileo made his claim:
Hebrews 11:12

12 Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born as many as the stars of the sky in multitude—innumerable as the sand which is by the seashore.

The word innumerable comes from the Greek word “anarithmētos” – unable to number.    The author(s) of the book of Hebrews are suspected to be Luke, Barnabas and possibly Apollos, but remains unknown for sure.  All three were Jews conformed to Christianity.  In both instances, we see that the knowledge of the universe came first from those of Jewish heritage, the blessed chosen of our God – the God of Christianity, NOT worldly scientists.

Now to expose some MYTHS that some Atheists believe about Christianity:

1.  GOD IS A FAIRY TALE.    I can see how some would say this.  It’s hard to believe in something we cannot see or one that science cannot measure.  But our faith doesn’t come from any other proof outside of our personal EXPERIENCE with Him.  We as true believers cannot EXPLAIN these experiences as they are of the “supernatural”.  Changes occur within us at the time of salvation that cannot be measured by any scientific method, thus it is a personal experience.  It is THESE experiences that EACH of us can attest to, that makes our faith unshakeable and durable.  It is only through the gift of the Holy Spirit that we can experience this when we accept Jesus as our Savior.  Muslims cannot claim this, nor can Buddhists, or any other religion in the world.  This is what makes our faith stand out above all the rest.

1 Corinthians 1:18 [ Christ the Power and Wisdom of God ] For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

Our God is a LIVING God.  One that we can communicate with (not AT), on a daily basis.  Even converting Muslims will attest to this as even today, many are having visions of Jesus and realizing that He IS who He has always claimed to be.  Many are being challenged today to pray to OUR God instead of Allah to see if He answers and every time He does.  90% of all Muslim conversions have converted because they have called upon Jesus to see if He would answer, and then they have said that He did, in visions and dreams.  This is something Allah or Buddha or any other god has never been able to claim.  This Muslim testimony is HUGE because their faith is one of strict laws and adherence.  Muslim conversions in some cases cost that Muslim their family, their home, their inheritance and more.  The power of Christ is bigger than any other that it would make even the biggest doubters and haters go to Him and lose everything they have known for Him.  Yeah, He’s just THAT BIG.

2.  CATHOLICISM IS CHRISTIANITY.  Wrong!  (I have to add this because it seems to be fueling much controversy:  I am NOT stating here that “CATHOLICS ARE NOT CHRISTIANS”.  What I AM stating here is that rites and rituals and certain beliefs within the Catholic religion are NOT biblical.  I hope this satisfies my critics.)  There are many “denominations” or branches of Christianity, but not all teach properly what the Bible says.  As a matter of fact, the Bible clearly warns of the evils of some of the Catholic practices.  Forbidding any worker of the church or anyone else to marry is (as quoted in the following verse) a doctrine of devils:

1 Timothy 4

4 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

Forbidding to marry (Catholicism), and commanding to abstain from meats (Muslims with Pork), which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

I will not deny an atheist when they speak of Catholicism or Mormonism or even Islam, because they are in essence correct about those “RELIGIONS”, but when it comes to Christianity in the sense of following the bible in it’s entirety, I will defend it to the death because the atheist claims of the true born again Christian are just false.

3.  CHRISTIANS ARE NON-THINKING BOBBLE HEADS/sheeple/indoctrinated.  As one can clearly see in just this blog alone, we Christians are NOT non-thinking.  As a matter of fact, some of us are far deeper thinkers on many different levels.  Some of us DO follow science, history, and do seek to not only prove our faith, but to disprove others.  Many of us are extremely intelligent people who don’t go around following Christian preachers and teachers, but study everything for ourselves, in all aspects of life – spiritual and physical.  I think it takes a far deeper thinker to ponder the wonderment of a God we cannot see, than to follow the teachings of men we’ve learned about in college or high school.

Our faith is one of choice,(just like the atheist makes their choice on their faith) but it’s one that once we make it, and are shown the truth about God through the Holy Spirit, that we never deny Him again.  The Bible even declares this:

John 10:28

And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

John 10:29

My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand

Peter may have denied Jesus 3 times at His hearing, but once Peter saw the resurrected Christ, he never denied Him again.  As a matter of fact it is believed that Peter was crucified for his faith, only hung upside down, and martyred like many of the other disciples, and even many Christians today.  One must ask, why IS it that Christians are so very hated throughout the world and history?  And what makes our faith so strong that even when facing our own death, we don’t denounce it. I know why that is, do you?

4.  CHRISTIANS DESIRE PERSECUTION.  I have to laugh when I see an atheist proclaim this as it is sheer nonsense.  Who in the world would WANT to be persecuted for their faith?  Even Muslims don’t want that – but some of them DO believe that to hurt and kill others (those outside of Islam) through their own death (suicide bombings, etc) is FOR their god Allah.  We Christians have never, nor ever will have any desire to be persecuted for our faith.  We know that we are blessed when we are, but that doesn’t mean we “desire” it or even seek it.  That’s like saying a soldier who goes off to war wishes to be killed because they wish to serve their country.  We stand strong in our persecution just as a soldier does in war to make a statement….it’s called having PASSION for something we believe in.  I wonder if an atheist had a gun to his head and was asked to deny his belief in Darwin or Karl Marx, would he? Would an atheist have the confidence in his beliefs to give his life for Charles Darwin or Karl Marx?

We Christians don’t seek death, in any way shape or form, not for us or others.  This claim is a completely irrational belief and misunderstanding on the atheists part with this one.  And I hate to say it but they claim we argue about things such as science that we know absolutely nothing about (because – according to them – if we did, we would turn from our faith and see how ridiculous it really is.)  Yet, doesn’t it appear that the atheist really has no clue what they themselves argue about in “religion”?

1 Corinthians 2:13-15

13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Plain and simply, two different belief systems based on FAITH – which one is right, which one is wrong?
If atheists are right, Christians have nothing to lose.  If Christians are right, the atheist has eternity to lose.  It’s just that simple.

“An atheist stays an atheist until his plane starts going down.”

I would like to challenge any non-believer reading this to ask Jesus from your heart to reveal Himself to you. It has to be an earnest request, from the heart, and see if what I say in this is true about “personal experience”. If you refuse, I then have to ask “what are ya, chicken?!” Afraid we might be right? Try it, it might just change your life forever. 😀

Peace to you all, in love as always, today and every day.

  1. You’re a better man than I, Brandy. I have a VERY difficult time “abiding these people….. Good read my friend

  2. You’ll have to answer the question of why the Jews were also forbidden to eat pork if they are God’s people. It’s not just the Muslims who don’t eat pork. I mention this simply so that your article can be rock solid in the face of Atheistic scrutiny.

    Great article, God bless you.

    1. Thank you Jennifer. I know Jews hold themselves true to God’s OLD laws that were made new in Christ and you are absolutely correct. Thank you for that clarification. 😉 God bless.

    2. Do you think pork was forbidden because of health reasons, with no refrigeration,, and also God made all food clean,, so none is forbidden today !

      1. I’ve seen different arguments on this, and I think it can be argued that it’s a health issue and can be taken by non-Jews as a general guideline. I’ve also heard the argument that not eating pork was a way for God to set the Jewish people apart from non-Jews (not sure if that can be argued Biblicly though). Either way, I think it can be soundly argued from New Testament scripture that if we want to eat pork, we can if we do it in thankfullness, but we might have a “cleaner” temple if we refrain from eating it. Regardless of how we interpret it, I think we can safely conclude that whether we eat pork or not, it won’t harm our salvation one bit.

  3. I just discovered this website. I will be returning all the time. I love that you use KJV. The King James is like water to a parched desert. Thank You and may God Keep you and Bless you.

  4. As an atheist myself, there is a point I’d like clarification on. I actually have tried praying, opening my heart to the existance of a higher power. I got no response, no feeling of rightness, no sense that a deity was listening. Does this mean that your God just didn’t care? I wish I could believe that there was an all-powerful being looking out for us, but I am unable to convince myself that this is the case. There is far too much evil in the world that He allows to continue. I am forced to come to the conclusion that if there is a God, he is either powerless or uncaring.

    1. Hi Chris, and Thank you for your comments and questions. My response to you will be lengthy to ensure I answer all potential questions you may have.

First, you mention you prayed, opening your heart to the existence of a “higher power”. In order for your prayers to be heard, you must first pray to the God who made you. It doesn’t surprise me your prayers weren’t answered if you haven’t prayed to the ONLY ONE that can save your soul: Jesus Christ.

Second – I have to ask – did you repent of your sins? If you feel you don’t have to repent for anything, or ask for forgiveness for anything you’ve done in your life, again, prayers will go unanswered. Our God (Jesus) requires a repentant heart….a heart humbled by the realization of our own frailty, and sin nature. And this is actually the first point I should have made.

You seem to be a man who wishes to have control over your relationship with God. You stated “I wish I could believe…but I am unable to convince myself….I am forced to come to the conclusion….” When God reveals Himself to someone WITH A REPENTANT HEART, someone who has been humbled to self, you won’t need to convince yourself of anything. The proof will reveal itself to you in profound ways. It’s a supernatural thing…and if you don’t believe in supernatural, then you remain lost.

You mention also you are an atheist, yet turn around and say “there is far too much evil in the world….” If you are a true atheist, you believe neither in God or the devil so how could you say such a thing? A TRUE atheist would say to himself “survival of the fittest….this is just how it is.” Yet you bring up the world having too much evil in it. So what are you? An atheist, or simply an agnostic?

Yes, God is allowing evil to continue and He has purpose for it. He is not CAUSING the evil, but He does allow it. Again, you won’t understand the purpose behind it until you open your heart truly and fully.

If you have used the Lord’s name in vain, you have sinned.
If you have lusted for a woman, you have committed adultery with her in your heart.
If you have ever hated someone, you have murdered them in your heart.
If you have ever lied, you are a liar.
If you have ever stolen something, you are a thief.

These are the main sins EVERYONE is usually guilty of. And NONE of those I’ve mentioned, without repentance can enter the kingdom of heaven. There can be no sin in heaven, so you MUST make yourself pure in the blood of Jesus. He died for all of us. I hope at some point you can accept that and lavish yourself in the love He has waiting for you. When you accept Jesus as your Savior, He wipes away your sins, changes your heart, and cleans up your life. He lives….TRUST me. 😉

      God bless you Chris.

  5. 1 Timothy 4

    4 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

    2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

3 Forbidding to marry (Catholicism), ”

So what’s your view on two guys marrying each other?

    1. My views on homosexuality Kevin would have to match the Lord’s – as I am a follower of His. Thank you for your comment and question. 🙂

      1. If you would forbid two guys to marry then some can use the passage in 1st Timothy against you as you are using it against Roman Catholicism.. Also, to say Roman Catholics are not Christians because their ‘priests’ tend not to marry is like saying an ostrich isn’t a bird because it doesn’t fly.

My position on ‘gay marriage’ is that because the church is the bride (female) and Christ is the faithful husband (Male) gay marriage is theologically impossible. But if the state wants to do it, then it’s not for me to argue against it because theocracy isn’t a good form of secular government.

      2. I am not in a position to “forbid” anything Kevin. And I never once said anywhere that “catholics aren’t Christians.” The practices within Catholicism are not biblical….but that’s not an offense on any personal level unless someone decides to take it that way. And we all know, that to take offense to something usually means there’s a level of truth to it that sears our conscience.

        Thank you. 😉

      3. To start a paragraph headed CATHOLICISM IS CHRISTIANITY. with “Wrong!” sounds like you are saying they are not Christians. Sorry I misunderstood.

      4. That’s OK Kevin…you aren’t the only one who misunderstood that, I guess I should edit the article and place more understanding in it. There….I added a “disclaimer” to hopefully stop the angry comments about my Catholicism paragraph.

  6. As recently recovering Christian I was hoping to find something in this blog post that would speak to me. Unfortunately there is nothing here other than the usual flawed fundamentalism that defies reason and common sense. You failed to debunk your 4 myths miserably and you failed to prove that there is any science in the Bible.

That said, yes, behind the chaos is order. It is one that as finite beings we are not capable of comprehending. Even with all the advancements in science we have unanswered questions and knowing what we know now I see no reason to cling to the speculations of nomadic herdsmen from one small pocket of the world. Of all the religions that have existed, Christianity is the most ridiculously inconclusive. You people can;t even agree who’s Christian or not (how on earth can you support the ridiculous notion that Catholics aren’t Christian – there are 1.2 billion of them and less then 200 million protestants – none of which can agree on doctrine.)

    Nice attempt – try again.

    1. You say “as a recently recovering Christian” Nelson….that just tells me you were a false convert to begin with. I’m truly sorry you find flaws within my blog. As the old saying goes, you just can’t please everyone. I will pray for your true salvation friend. Thank you 🙂

  7. I was actually born into Christianity and have since studied many different religions in my adult years. The church is flawed because it didn’t listen to who ti claims to follow. Money has destroyed the church. It’s all about raising money for another organ or another 50 ft cross and then condemning governments that try to show equality and charity.

What turned me away was the hypocrisy.

    1. Being “born into” Christianity doesn’t make one a follower of Christ. Studying different religions only makes one a theologian. When you say “the church is flawed”, I would ABSOLUTELY agree with you, and frankly, so would Jesus Himself. Our churches today are a disgrace because they are so off the mark with what they were intended to be, it’s not even funny. But let me assure you, the church buildings, practices and affiliations have little to do with true followers of Christ. I’m truly sorry you have such a bad taste in your mouth about our faith, and I hope at some point you get to know TRUTH about what we believe and walk. I feel so bad for people like you that have witnessed the church as it is today and have felt let down and seriously disappointed by them. It’s for people like you specifically why I spend so much time writing these blogs…and to strengthen those already in the walk. I don’t blame you for your feelings, I just hope you can keep an open mind to hearing the truth when it is spoken. It breaks my heart to see what our “churches” have done to people. Please keep your mind and heart open friend. It ain’t over till it’s over. 😉 God bless ❤

  8. My mind is always open Brandy. I appreciate your open mindedness as well. As to my walk, I have been very open and honest about it on my blog ( and I welcome you to follow me around while I wander through the mystery of “why”. I have a new post coming out entitled “Take up your cross and follow me”

(Sorry for being somewhat abrasive at first. It is kind of a litmus test of seeing the intellectual integrity of my opponent – you passed.)

    1. YAYYYYY!!! I PASSED! Lol….Thank you Nelson. Maybe together we can come to an honest understanding. And I will follow you. Interested to see what ticks in that brain of yours. 😉

  9. I’ll be happy to answer questions anyone has, but i will no longer be accepting the hate mail I’ve been receiving over this blog thanks to an atheist sharing it to stir up the masses. Although I can appreciate you have your own beliefs, This is a christian blog, not something that needs to be filled with all sorts of ideas opposing or ridiculing Christians and their (our) beliefs. I don’t go on atheist blogs and pick fights with them, even though I could, and I would appreciate the same respect. We are all adults here, let’s act like it. Read the blog, laugh at it if you must, ask questions if you feel compelled, and move on. Thanks.

  10. You say that the reason you have faith is because of “personal experience” with God. So according to you has God just not bothered to give atheists this personal experience or what? I am an atheist now but I was a christian at one point in time. Even after I became an atheist I still did all the things christians say you have to do so God can reveal himself to you (repent, pray, etc). I honestly tried many times but I got no results. Until I get some sort of evidence I can’t believe in a God even if I would like to. I thought God was supposed to be loving, so I would think he would want to give me a reason to believe in him if he did exist.

    1. MaloBeto – Without getting into a deep discussion about what you’ve “tried” to do, I cannot answer your question. I honestly don’t know how one can do “all the things Christians say (they) have to do to so God can reveal Himself to you” AFTER “becoming an atheist”. Are you saying you denounced God and then asked Him to reveal Himself to you? Does that make sense to you? That would be like hiring a hitman to murder your spouse and then asking her to come back. Think about it. God is loving, merciful and graceful, however, He is also JUST….you can’t kick Him in the groin and then say “come show yourself to me”. If you are truly interested in seeking Him, you need to keep trying. He says:
Matthew 7: Keep Asking, Seeking, Knocking

7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 9 Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? 11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! 12 Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
      The Narrow Way

13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

  11. Here’s the thing…You must seek in order to find. Go Look!! It’s worth your time. With salvation, you have to find it to understand it. That’s how it worked for me!! Point being, it does work and you will be happy!! No amount of knowledge, money or power can bring you peace. Jesus can and He will. I know. Brandy is a personal friend of mine and I know what she’s saying and she’s trying to help. Take the help!! Don’t let psudo-intellectualism get in the way of The Holy Spirit. For what? So you can say what? Oh I’m so smart? Are ya? You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Go get it!!
