CHRISTIAN DISCOURAGEMENT

If you are a Christian in today’s world, chances are you’ve been discouraged a time or two due to the hate we often receive from lukewarm Christians, atheists, liberals and more.  It happened to me again today.  I wanted to take down my Facebook profile, and at the same time vent my head off…..but then I remembered, this is SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN.

We can’t quit.  We can’t give up.  We will never be silenced, no matter HOW much the truth of His Word hurts or “offends” them.  I don’t care if you’re a hater of Christians, or one that feels that Christians “judge” you, you will never shut down Christianity, our determination to carry on, or silence us.  WHY?  Because with Him, all things are possible and He carries us through.

People have called me “arrogant” numerous times because I speak “matter-of-factly” regarding scripture.

People have called me judgmental, all the while judging me by saying I’m judgmental.

People have called me a mean Christian because of the brutal truths I speak.  They have called me unloving, they have said I don’t help people, I hurt people.

Look at the sources.  The people that say these things are about as lost as they can be, but believe otherwise.  These people believe they are “good people” and “will probably get to heaven” and they think this can happen without giving their lives to Christ or not repenting of one single sin that they commit daily, weekly, monthly, annually.  These people are the ones of the world – the ones under the power of the prince of this world – yet refuse to see it.

They call us hypocrites, yet cannot see their own folly.

I admit, I’m a brutal truth speaking tough love person.  This is how God allowed me to be brought up.  This is how God allowed the world to mold me.  It is up to Him to change me if He feels I need to be changed – not anyone else.  It is HIS job to chasten me, not anyone else.

Some people need a stroke on the back, a hug, a tender touch; this is where certain followers come in and are useful, while others need a sheer slap in the face when it comes to faith.  That’s where followers like me come in – we are ALL part of the body of Christ and ALL are used for His Glory.  I don’t want to make myself out a monster here, but apparently some think I am.  I am blessed though, because I am out there, being His servant, as called.  Who could gain a higher honor than those who are called by Him and fulfilling that calling!

If people really knew me, they would know I check my own mirror constantly.  If people really knew me, they would know that I would give the shirt off my back for them.  If people really knew me, they would know I’m about as humble and compassionate as they come.  When it comes to the Lord, I don’t know how to be any other way.  How dare people kick His truth-bearers in the shins and then run for the hills!  Nonetheless it happens, moment after moment, day after day, worldwide.   We are blessed for it, truly.

I would like to add that just because one speaks boldly, confidently, and sees, points out and condemns sin, exposes false teachers and false converts  (because as it grieves the Holy Spirit, it also grieves us), that doesn’t make one arrogant.  It makes one confident in their teaching.  It makes one a messenger, a teacher, and one who loves greater than those who remain silent.  We followers of Christ don’t follow the politically correct crowd – and never should.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Proverbs 27:17  As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.

I recently read that only like 2% of church-going Christians are actually bold enough to be out there, sharing the gospel of Christ, sharing TRUTH.  That’s a sad reality for Christianity as a whole.

Another thing I would like to add – although some Christians will walk away from confrontation, it doesn’t mean all will.  Those who turn and walk away from confrontation, and refuse to contend earnestly for the faith, are usually either turning the other cheek, or just frankly don’t have enough knowledge, strength and courage to stand up for Him and His Word.  Don’t mistake us all for weak and unknowing.  And if you think that’s so wrong for us Christians to do, may I remind you that Jesus Himself overturned the money changers in the temple and whipped the vendors there.  Even He got angry at man’s willful ignorance and boldly called them out for what they had done – turned His temple into a “den of thieves”.  Speaking truth to one another is a far cry from what He did….and He could do those things, because of who He is.

STOP SHOOTING THE MESSENGERS.

Take heart my fellow Christians in knowing that the Pharisees of Jesus’ day called Him arrogant.  They accused Him of blasphemy.  They accused Him of lying, doing the deeds of Satan, and mocked Him.  They crucified Him, spat on Him, whipped Him, scourged Him, laughed at Him, and much more, though He never committed a single sin, though He was completely innocent, though He loved like no other ever has or ever will.  His Word reminds us:

They hate the one who rebukes in the gate, And they abhor the one who speaks uprightly.
Blessed are you when men hate you, And when they exclude you, And revile you, and cast out your name as evil, For the Son of Man’s sake.
I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.

When I’m reminded of these verses and others, it gives me encouragement to carry on.  People are gonna hate, especially today.  The world is changing and absolutely full of the Antichrist spirit today; full of hate, destruction, and immorality that they seek to justify, in any way they can.  Take heart my friends – our side wins in the end.  It’s not about us anyway….it’s all about Him.

Pray for those who hate and persecute you.  Look up, not down, when one of Satan’s tools/pawns comes at you with everything they have.  Remember we all sin – the only difference is that we followers of Christ have redemption, while the rest of the world DESPERATELY needs it.

Be strong, be courageous, don’t be silent, and stand firm.  Study scripture first and foremost, know Him and His Word, and be ready to give an answer to anyone that comes your way.  Let them know you love them, but also remember NOT to be a doormat.

Peace to you all, today and every day.  ❤

  1. Ms. Brandy,
Good afternoon! Thank you so much for sharing your article with me. I really do understand what you you have to say. You speak truth! I would like to share a book with you regarding your article that will help to shed more light into what’s really happening within the so called ” Church.”
Please read ” Pagan Christianity ” by Arthurs Frank Viola & George Barna to get a perspective to intricacies & operations of the so called ” Church.” You’ll come away feeling relieved and thankful knowing it’s not you. So called Christians are some of the most dangerous people you can deal with. Remember, we were warned of these times throughout the New testament.
Again, thank you for your article and may the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob bless thee.

    Best regards,
    4TRUTH,
    Buddy Dawson
