“But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.”
This man works at Hardee’s. He was offered a management position over a decade ago and turned it down because he “didn’t want the responsibility”. We’ll just say he’s an “under-achiever”. He’s damaged, hateful towards God, hateful towards the Bible. He is forever living with other people because he cannot solely support himself, and does not own a vehicle, thus must rely on others for rides to work and anywhere else he needs to go. Most would say he’s a type of “leech”. Needless to say – he’s never been married.
The other day I was scoping through his Facebook page and I couldn’t believe the amount of dissension and hate and venom he had spewed on his profile – towards our President, towards those who voted for him, and towards everything the conservative right stands for.
Facebook has clearly emboldened him. Social media has raised his ego levels to that of “delusions of grandeur” as he hides his true identity from the world and can pretend to be something much bigger than he is. He sits cowardly behind his computer screen, and expels all his hateful rhetoric, creating a separate identity for himself so maybe the world can see him in a different light. I say this because we had him living with us for a time and he wasn’t/isn’t nearly as bold and brazen in person as he is on social media. As a matter of fact, he will RUN from debate or disagreement if challenged in person – because he knows he cannot back up his words with facts.
The really sad thing is – the stuff that he posts sometimes is believed as fact by others, and he’s become a shepherd of sheep believing lies. He’s become a Jim Jones type.
My point to telling you that story was to pose the question: HOW MANY OTHERS OUT THERE DO WE KNOW JUST LIKE THIS?
On social media, we somehow believe that our opinions and feelings mean so much in this world. Social media is like a personal diary – where we can share our innermost thoughts, beliefs, and feelings – only this platform is public for all the world to see.
We ALL want others to believe as we do, to see our viewpoint, to think and act as we do – when truthfully, if we all did that, no one would be able to stand one another – Amen?
I mean if we were all identical in thinking, the ways we acted, etc – one must ask themselves and be honest: COULD I TRULY LIVE WITH MYSELF AS OTHERS HAVE TO?
I know I couldn’t….and anyone who says they can is lying. So why are we trying to force our own personal religions down everyone’s throat – and then accusing others of the same?
The amount of information available to us is massive through the web. However, if we aren’t scrutinizing that information and seeking real truth, not subjective truth, but REAL OBJECTIVE TRUTH, how can we claim to know all the answers and have all the facts? I mean, we can’t just simply take our “feelings” and “beliefs” and “opinions” and post them out there as FACT/TRUTH.
If man could think the world was flat for many millennia – doesn’t that show man is pretty fallible?
I think it’s funny how the theme on everybody’s lips today are “I’m right, and if you disagree with me, you are simply wrong, stupid, ignorant, and not worthy of my space.” Social media has done this to people. It’s like when people drink and think they are physically stronger than they are….we call that “beer muscles”. What do we call this social media plague – “PC muscles”? PC EGO. There’s a good one.
JAMES 4: 13 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; 14 whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. 15 Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.” 16 But now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. 17 Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.
Listen guys – I know we all wish to believe our life means something really important….somewhere….someway…. somehow. We all want to leave a mark in this world that will be remembered. Social media gives us a false sense of that…. It gets us believing, while we sit alone in the dark, looking at that screen, that we are SIGNIFICANT. That our opinions are SIGNIFICANT. That our feelings are SIGNIFICANT. When truthfully- in the big scheme of things – our lives are but a “vapor” in time – and if we are going to be honest – VERY INSIGNIFICANT.
Our words become static and noise when we remain negative and hateful and spew lies and venom.
God even tells us these things. Clamor and dissent and hate destroy. Love lifts up and builds up.
Don’t let social media turn you into an egotistical, deluded, hate spewing, self righteous fool. Humble yourselves and realize that as insignificant as you might feel in daily life, your life online is even MORE insignificant – because instead of sharing yourself with your immediate small circle, you’re trying to be heard in a world of 6 billion. All NOISE… because ALL THOSE OTHER PEOPLE are trying to be heard just as much as you are.
Opinions are like armpits – everyone has them – and they all stink.
Who are YOU out of 6 billion? Who are YOU in the big scheme of things? Who are YOU in the thousands of years of history? Who are YOU to tell others what they should or should not believe?
Stop pointing fingers at others and start looking at the 3 pointing at you.
Matthew 7: 3 And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a plank is in your own eye? 5 Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
